Sudeki : Side Quests and Misc Notes

A big thank you to Hugh and Glenna for letting me borrow this game from them. I hope SSX3 met your expectations.

Quick Game Review

This game was great, overall. The graphics were colourful and cartoon-like without looking silly and out of place. For most of the game you run around with several characters, only one of which you can control at any time. Luckily the computer does a great job of using the others in combat and the whole thing works very smoothly.

My biggest issue with the game is that it wasn't nearly long enough. With an RPG-type game there's usually limited replay value, so you have to design a deep and long storyline. Unfortunately Sudeki's storyline is pretty basic and the entire game doesn't take very long to play out. Another issue is that the characters are generic, boring, and have absolutely atrocious dialogue with each other.

Side Quests

Some side quests can only be done when certain people are in your party and at certain times in the game.

Some side quests also require that you collect X amount of a specific item. This can really be a pain if you've been selling instead of saving, so here's a list of things you shouldn't sell until you complete the quest that needs them:

Brightwater Pearls (x21), Omnium (x21), Stingers (x5), Woluf Pelts (x5), Glue Spider Glands (x3), Arconite Skulls (x5), Cyantine Eyes (x3), Shadow Stones (x21), Eden Coral (x5).

Street Urchin Hunt
Speak to kids playing in castle courtyard.
The kids will steal a few florins from Tal then scatter and hide around the courtyard. Seek them out to get the florins back and a Red Key. The kids hide near the weaponsmith, near the inn and near the ???. To find the Red Key Door, take the door by the Kemo's shop, head along the coastal balcony, and look for a ladder down to the left of the guards which leads to a door and an Orb of Power.
Valuable Cargo
Speak to the Lighthouse Keeper, and then 4 fishermen at the docks and the blonde womand and brunette womand that wonder near the fountain.
Head to the Brightwater Beach and wander around in the sandy area for a fight to occur. Everytime the party wins a fight a box or two will appear with some of the needed items. After each fight you'll have to walk out of the area and then return. After collecting all the items, return to Brighwater and speak to all 7 people. Rewards: Cyantine Eye, Omnium, Wyrdlord Gem, Eden Coral, Wolf Totem, 3 Crab Crystal, 10 Brightwater Pearl, 3 Illumina Opal.

Totem Locations

Each of the characters associate with a different totem. Collecting the totems aren't necessary to complete the game, but they do make it a lot easier. Every time you deposit a totem at the appropriate shrine the group will receive an Orb (to raise hitpoints, essence, power, etc). When all four totems have been collected, the character will receive their ultimate weapon, which is usually quite good.

Weapons

Tal

Tal gets many weapons through the game, but only a handful are worth using and enhancing. Mojo is great to use for a while, but definitely purchase the Chain Sword when you have the opportunity. Chain Sword has great upgrade potential and is the best sword until you gain Tal's ultimate weapon, the Runic Blade.

Elco

Elco and Ailish's weapons have a little more variety than Tal and Buki's. Elco has two types of weapons: weak but fast firing weapons, and slow weapons that dish out massive damage. The slow weapons stack on big damage for every damage enhancement added to them, while the little weapons get almost no benefit from them, so use heal/skill regenerating enhancements on the little weapons but put as many damage enhancers on the big weapons.

His best weapons is the Ion Fluxinator which he starts the game with. In addition to doing huge damage (upgrade it with two square damage enhancers) it also knocks back and knocks down his foes. Elco's Plasma Launcher is fast-firing with not much damage, so use it when you need to heal. When fighting Krenn the best weapon is the Proton Phaser.

Proton Phaser

Plasma Launcher
48 Str/10% Crit/High Fire Rate
Enhancement: 2 round 1 square slot
Location: Ultimate weapon from Dragon Shrine.

Ailish

Ailish should treat her weapons much like Elco does; upgrade the slow powerful weapons with damage enhancers and the quick weapons with some healing. Batholith, with its heavy damage and a knockback, is usually Ailish's weapon-of-choice for a good portion of the game until the Wizardwood Staff. Royal Scepter works well as a quick firing, healing weapon until she gets her ultimate, Nightshadow.

Royal Scepter

Armour

It costs a lot of florins to upgrade armour, so choose wisely. Usually I go with Anti Evil (immunity to weaken and curse) first, then Hex Proof (immunity to slow) and Anti-Poison. Dealing damage back to enemies is a nice thought, but most of the time it's better to be protected from negative effects to avoid having to use tonnes of potions.

When a character gets a new armour they keep enhancements from previous armours.
